Dr Joseph Muscat

Dr Muscat served as Prime Minister of Malta from March 2013 until January 2020 during which time he won ten consecutive national, European and local elections with record majorities.

As Prime Minister, Muscat led Malta’s Presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2017 and was the Commonwealth Chair-in-Office between November 2015 and April 2018.

Prior to running  in national elections Dr Muscat successfully contested the first European Parliamentary elections in Malta in 2004. He sat with the Party of European Socialists and held the post of Vice-President of the Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and substitute member of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection.

He currently works as an advisor and lives in Burmarrad, Malta.
